Just before the sun set tonight, I spotted a gull that liked to light on one of the lamp posts near my car. So I waited until he was up there and shot an image of him sitting there and then one as he took off. I had no idea that they pushed off with a foot, but here is the evidence ...

I think it's really cool that he hangs a foot down to push off instead of just leaping into the air ...
