F70EXR Pro-Low Light Mode – When Not To Use It

I stopped the other day to see how well the F70EXR could resolve long distance objects by shooting the same scene that I’ve shot with other 300mm equivalent lenses. The answer, in case you are wondering, is that small sensor cams do not even come close to dSLRs in resolving long range details …

But that’s not this story. I had the cam set on pro-low light mode from a previous shoot and realized it as soon as I shot the first image. I quickly changed it, but I quite like the result I got here … a weird  image with 3 superimposed shots of a man and his dog walking across a field.

And a crop of the image shows exactly what happened here …

Cool … but this only serves to underscore that pro low light mode is useful for still objects or special effects.

great blog, Kim, keep it up!... the pro low light mode really makes some special effects when used for different scenes than supposed to... for example, when you point your camera on your face, move your eyes to one side, after second exposure quickly move to the other side and the result is, you look like an alien ;).. or after first shot you just close your eyes look like open and closed in the same time..takes time to experiment, but the results could be really interesting :)

Sandal: Sorry about the delay in publishing your comment, it slipped through the cracks. Your idea works pretty well, although the timing is difficult. Quite amusing.
