Wonderful movie! This has got to be the most unashamed bit of Canadiana I have ever seen. A man is diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, given 10% odds to survive and at most 2 years to live if the treatment fails.
You will no doubt recognize Joshua Jackson from "Fringe", the excellent x-files like television series. He plays Ben Tyler, who decides to chuck it all for a few days and drive west on a beautiful vintage motorcycle. Along the way, he meets some wonderful characters, including a brief appearance by Gord Downey from The Tragically Hip ... one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Gord helps Ben first realize that he really is not in love with his fiancee ...
Joshua actually rides the motorcycle during this movie ... the camera truck generally driving ahead of him ... we see some incredible scenery, especially as he goes through the coastal mountains of British Columbia. Awesome ...
There are many poignant scenes here ... it almost, but not quite, tears your heart out. It falls just short because they chose an ending different from that of Wit. But there is so much to enjoy ... including Ben's kiss of the real Stanley Cup. I'll leave your discovery of how they pull that off to your own viewing of the movie :-)
Enjoy ... I sure did.
