Moxies for Lunch

What an exciting post this is ... a record of lunch. Ok ... it's a bore, but it's all I got for now. The boys and I popped out to check out our favorite Cambodian restaurant (Phnom Phen) and found it closed. No matter, 10 more minutes of driving and we end up at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant (Phu Yen) and it too is closed. It being a holiday here in Canada, both restaurants are opening for dinner only. Sheesh ...

So ... off we go to try out the Centrum Mall. There are many restaurants and surely one will be open. We try the Ox Head first ...


It is across from the Kanata 24 theater, and is also closed. They make a wicked sweet coffee ... which I am missing just thinking about it.

As we approached the theater, Nick reminded us of the sign he modified 8 years ago ... his modification still standing. He was rather militant back then and changed the "Absolutely NO skateboarding ..." sign to "Absolutely GO skateboarding ..." :-) Kids ....


Walking back across the parking lot we decide finally settled on Moxies, since we figured we could get something fairly light there. And expensive of course ... but today is the last day of the "Nick is home" festival, so one more time ....

Upon our arrival, I pull out the camera and Jonathan reacts predictably.


But they manage to be tolerant for a moment ...



Yes ... I have become rather addicted to this "artsy fartsy" processing ... I like it. Covers a lot of sins and creates powerful images ....


I then looked around while we waited for our food and saw that they have fresh Calla Lilies all over the place. Nice ... this shot is at 3200 ISO and looks remarkably good for such a high ISO.


Later, after the meal (which was pretty darned good), Jonny took a brief nap while I enjoyed a Latte and Nick went off somewhere ....


I suppose that's what a Lord of the Sith looks like when napping ....

Last image is of Nick ... I cught him with Fuji's amusing Pro Low Light mode, where the camera shoots and combines 4 images for a very clean image even at the highest ISOs .... but it has this funny quirk that any part of the subject that moves gets superimposed over the entire image partially transparent. Look at his hand here ...


Anyway ... we had a good time ... nice to have him back in the fold again ...
