F550EXR – Movie Mode Demonstration — Review Part 40

A reader from Germany asked me to tell him a little about the 60fps movie mode in the F550EXR. So I thought I’d write a brief article showing the 5 movie modes in action. First, there is no 60fps mode. Anyway, the 5 modes are:

  • 720p 30fps
  • 1080p 30fps
  • 640x480 80fps
  • 320x240 160fps
  • 320x112 320fps

The first two modes have stereo sound (and pretty decent sound quality I might add) while the last three are silent. The final mode is difficult to use because framing is so critical. A tripod is a necessity as is a stable subject framing.

Anyway, here is a small demonstration film I cooked up. The music is royalty-free by Derek Audette and is called Quantum Entanglement.

Sidebar: The Fuji Canada web site, along with DPReview and apparently anyone who gets their info from either of these says that the 720p mode is shot at 60fps:

But Fujifilm global (also Fujifilm UK) and the camera itself all say 30fps:
